In 2021, Nation Newspaper published an article titled Probe launched as thousands fall victim to Mara jobs scam, exposing a fraudulent scheme where a fake Maasai Mara camp named Mara Crescent Resort lured unsuspecting Kenyans with false job offers.

Victims were required to pay KES 2,740 for a medical certificate as a supposed prerequisite for employment. The Nation article did not provide any information on whether the perpetrators were ever caught or if they are the same individuals now operating under the fake domain Gameresort.co.ke, which is currently deceiving job seekers with another non-existent camp. Given the similarities in tactics, it is crucial for job seekers to remain vigilant and always verify opportunities through official channels.
