🌍 Overview

Governors’ Il Moran Camp is the most luxurious and intimate of the renowned Governors’ Camp Collection properties in Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. Positioned right on the banks of the Mara River and shaded beneath ancient riverine forest, this exclusive tented camp is tailored for discerning travelers who want refined luxury, outstanding service, and front-row seats to some of Africa’s best wildlife spectacles.

Frequently praised by seasoned safari-goers and honeymooners alike, Il Moran offers a peaceful, romantic, and uncrowded experience, yet is close enough to the action-packed game-viewing areas that have made the Masai Mara world-famous.

📍 Location & How to Get There

Location Setting

Governors’ Il Moran is located in the Musiara sector of the Masai Mara, a wildlife-rich area along the banks of the Mara River. The riverine forest offers both shade and a steady stream of visiting animals—hippos are resident year-round, and elephants, giraffes, and antelope frequently graze right near camp.

Getting There

  • By Air: The camp is serviced by the nearby Musiara Airstrip. Guests can book a scheduled flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport (approx. 45 mins), with a 30-minute transfer from the airstrip to camp, often doubling as your first game drive.
  • By Road: For adventurous travelers, the camp is accessible via a 5 to 6-hour drive from Nairobi, traveling through the scenic Rift Valley. A 4×4 vehicle is highly recommended, especially during rainy months.

Airstrip transfers are included in all fly-in safari bookings.
