4 Days Masai Mara Safari Itinerary
This itinerary gives you two full reserve days, making it much stronger than a shorter, more rushed safari. Day 1 is used for the road transfer and camp arrival, Day 2 and Day 3 are full game-drive days, and Day 4 is the return journey to Nairobi.
Day 1 Nairobi to Masai Mara
Your safari begins with pick-up from your Nairobi hotel, residence, JKIA or Wilson Airport, usually between 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM depending on location.
The road journey travels through the Great Rift Valley with an optional viewpoint stop, then continues through Narok and onward toward the Sekenani area of Masai Mara.
On arrival at Kambu Mara Camp, check in, have lunch if included in your schedule, and settle into camp. Day 1 normally avoids reserve entry so that your park-fee days are used for full game-drive days.
Day 2 Full-Day Game Drive — Sekenani, Talek, Paradise Plains and Mara River
After an early breakfast, enter Masai Mara National Reserve for your first full-day game drive in a 4×4 Land Cruiser with pop-up roof.
The route may cover Sekenani Plains, Talek Plains, Talek River corridor, Paradise Plains, Lookout Hill and the Mara River area depending on wildlife movement, road conditions and guide judgment.
A packed picnic lunch is provided so you can remain inside the reserve through the day. The early morning and late afternoon are especially important for predator activity and photography.
Day 3 Second Full-Day Game Drive — Eastern, Southern or Sand River Circuit
Day 3 gives you a second full day inside Masai Mara National Reserve, which is the main advantage of choosing a 4-day safari instead of a 3-day safari.
Your guide can take a different route from Day 2, increasing your chance of seeing different habitats and wildlife behavior. Depending on conditions, the route may focus on the eastern and southern plains, Sand River direction, Black Rock area, Roan Hills or productive big-cat zones.
The second full day gives more flexibility for lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, plains game, raptors and seasonal migration movement.
Day 4 Masai Mara to Nairobi
After breakfast, check out and begin the return journey to Nairobi through Narok and the Great Rift Valley.
Drop-off can be arranged at your Nairobi hotel, residence, JKIA or Wilson Airport. Guests with international flights should allow enough time for road conditions, Nairobi traffic, airport check-in and security procedures.
Kambu Mara Camp Near Sekenani Gate
Kambu Mara Camp is the standard accommodation for this package. It provides a good-value safari base close to the Sekenani side of the reserve, helping guests start early on game-drive days.
Guests can choose Comfort Tent, Family Tent, or Extended Family Tent options depending on group size.
| Tent Type | Bed Setup | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Comfort Tent | 1 queen-size bed, ensuite bathroom | Solo travelers and couples |
| Family Tent | 2 queen-size beds, ensuite bathroom | Families and small groups |
| Extended Family Tent | Multiple queen-size beds, ensuite bathroom | Larger families and groups |
Full-Board Meals Included
The full-board meal plan is structured around long reserve days, with packed lunches on both full game-drive days.
| Day | Meals Included | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Lunch and dinner | Arrival day at camp after the Nairobi to Masai Mara road transfer. |
| Day 2 | Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner | Packed lunch keeps you inside the reserve for the full-day game drive. |
| Day 3 | Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner | Second full-day game drive without returning to camp midday. |
| Day 4 | Breakfast | Breakfast before check-out and return transfer to Nairobi. |
Special dietary requirements should be shared before arrival. Vegetarian meals, allergies, child meals and other meal preferences can be arranged with advance notice.

Why 4 Days Is Stronger
A 3-day safari gives one main reserve day. A 4-day safari adds a second full day, improving route flexibility, photography time, big-cat tracking and migration-season chances.
| 3-Day Safari | 4-Day Safari |
|---|---|
| 2 nights | 3 nights |
| One full game-drive day | Two full game-drive days |
| More compact | More immersive |
| Lower total cost | Better wildlife-viewing depth |
| Good introduction | Stronger complete Masai Mara experience |
