Basecamp Masai Mara is a standout eco-safari lodge located just outside the Masai Mara National Reserve, along the tree-lined banks of the Talek River. 📍 Location & Access

Basecamp Masai Mara is situated close to Talek Gate, providing direct access into the eastern portion of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The camp sits on private land adjacent to the reserve and is connected by a pedestrian suspension bridge that crosses the Talek River.

Getting There:

  • By Road: Approximately 5.5 to 6 hours from Nairobi via Narok town. A 4×4 vehicle is recommended, especially during the rainy season.
  • By Air: Scheduled flights from Wilson Airport (Nairobi) to Ol Kiombo Airstrip, followed by a 45–60-minute transfer through the park. Transfers are included for guests arriving by air.

🏕️ Accommodation

The camp has 17 tents, blending rustic charm and modern comfort. Each tent is positioned under the shade of indigenous trees, with a private deck facing the river, allowing guests to watch wildlife from the comfort of their verandah.

Room Types:

  • Standard Safari Tents:
    Well-appointed tents with king or twin beds, a writing desk, open-air en-suite bathrooms, solar-heated showers (both indoor and outdoor), and private viewing decks.
  • Family Tent:
    Two connected tents under one roof, perfect for families with young children. Comes with shared deck space and two en-suite bathrooms.

  • Solar power and limited USB charging in tents
